Gratitude buddies! This post is so good, girl. And I love how you address the toxic positivity phenomenon. You hit the nail on the head so clearly and succinctly. Meanwhile I waffle (as the Brits say) for like an hour. 😂
Thank you Christina!! 🤗 Haha I really enjoyed yours too! I mean, you wrote yours laying on a couch under a sick dog, so considering that, I think it was stellar. 👌
Oooh I LOVE a good gratitude list! Here are a few things that I have noticed myself being consciously grateful for thins week:
* The weather here in NY has been spectacular. Cool days and cold night, blue skies and bright sun. The trees are finally starting to change and leaves and nuts and seeds are starting to fall. The humid heat of summer is behind us, and every time I step outside I can't help but smile.
* The cozy satisfaction of eating and drinking hot things when you're just a little bit chilly. It's soup season, and I couldn't be more thrilled. And the switch from iced coffee to hot coffee and tea has been super satisfying.
* The convenience of modern medicine! I woke up the other day with an infection, and instead of having to book a visit to my doctor or wait for an hour at the local clinic, I had the option of a 5 minute phone call with a tele-doc and a stroll over to my neighborhood pharmacy for the medicine I needed. It's a silly thing, but on a day when I was already feeling lousy, getting to cut out all of the excess time and effort felt like a miracle.
* The freedom to spend time with my family. This weekend was my brother's birthday, and I ended up spending all of Sunday with him and my other brother (along with spouses and kids). We watched football and argued about politics and made fun of each other and old stories, all while eating great food and playing with nieces and nephews. I can vividly remember how many times I was pressured to skip family functions because ministry was always supposed to come first, and church was "my spiritual family". The fact that I now have the freedom to make these choices for myself - to skip church to be with family, to spend quality time with the people I love without getting in trouble for it - it's a very healing thing.
* Good books and new stories. No explanation needed.
Really grateful for the chance to work hard and be vulnerable in small group! Thanks for the post Alexandria😀
You're welcome Jason! Glad you enjoyed it! And yes, I'm thankful for small group too! 🙂
